Last week was super-sweet!

Not having school and only going to work for a week was fantastic. I got to attend a Blazers game and got to watch the others from start to finish. Something I haven't been able to do all season. It also worked out that I didn't have to go into work on Thanksgiving day. Instead, I slept in, ate pumpkin pie for lunch and went to Colleen, my lady-friend's, family's house for dinner. We played with 2 and 4 year olds most of the time, had a big feast featuring relatively healthy foods for once, and watched the movie Kung Fu Panda. Which is actually pretty good. But I have to admit that I am a sucker for Disney movies.

This marked the first time in over 7 years that I didn't have to work Thanksgiving day at all. Working in the service industry means that working holidays is a fact of life. I am very much looking forward to a teachers schedule full of holidays spent with loved ones. My mother just moved to Portland a few months ago but before that all of my family members lived over the mountain in Central Oregon so I spent all of my holidays working then heading over to a friends house. Which wasn't all that bad but nothing compares to holidays at home with people you have known for your whole life.

This week I'm back at it again, work and school, and gearing up for the holiday season. I got almost half of my holiday shopping done today and will hopefully be done by next Monday. This will also be monumental since I usually wait until the week before Christmas to do any shopping at all.
